Study Overview

Now in its 36th year, the study assesses vehicle durability over time by collecting insights from 34,175 original owners of 2022-model vehicles, three years into their ownership experience.

This year, all four of GM’s brands achieved significant recognition in the study.

A remarkable 15 out of 20 GM models ranked in the top three of their respective categories.

Six models stood out as the most reliable in their classes, allowing GM to tie with another manufacturer for the title of having the most awards in this year’s evaluations.

Significantly, all four brands made their mark in the top 10 out of the 30 models assessed.

    • Buick shone brightly, emerging as the top brand in the Mass Market category and claiming the second spot overall.
    • The brand was also awarded the “Overall Mass Market Nameplate” distinction.
  • Cadillac
    • Cadillac’s XT6 took the lead in the Upper Midsize Premium SUV segment, demonstrating exceptional performance.
    • Overall, Cadillac placed second among Premium brands, securing fifth place on the broader scale of rankings.
  • Chevrolet
    • The Chevrolet Corvette earned the title of the leading Premium Sporty Car.
    • Not to be outdone, the Chevrolet Silverado topped the Large Light Duty Pickup category.
    • Additionally, the Silverado HD was recognized as most dependable in the Large Heavy Duty Pickup sector.
    • The Chevrolet Tahoe also excelled, leading the Large SUV category with its remarkable reliability.
    • Within the Mass Market segment, Chevrolet ranked fourth and achieved fifth overall.
  • GMC
    • The GMC Acadia distinguished itself by clinching first place in the Upper Midsize SUV category.
    • Overall, GMC placed fifth among Mass Market brands and secured seventh position in the general ranking.
