BorgWarner is making impressive progress in the new energy vehicle landscape, recently securing four noteworthy projects with three prominent domestic brands in China.
This collaboration marks an exciting new phase for the company as it prepares to deliver state-of-the-art 400V high-voltage hairpin (HVH) motors.
One key project involves a significant Chinese new energy vehicle supplier; for them, BorgWarner is set to supply motors for a 200kW hybrid rear-drive platform, with production expected to kick off in August 2025.
Collaboration with Major OEMs
In another important development, BorgWarner will provide motors for a leading domestic original equipment manufacturer (OEM), enhancing a 150kW pure electric platform that is slated for mass production in March 2026.
Furthermore, BorgWarner’s expertise will extend to the next-generation vehicle initiatives of another major Chinese OEM, focusing on both range-extended and plug-in hybrids, with production anticipated to start sometime between August and October 2025.
Innovative eMotor Technology
In response to the growing demand for new energy vehicles in China, BorgWarner has unveiled an innovative eMotor technology called Ultra-Short High-Voltage Hairpin (S-HVH).
This cutting-edge approach streamlines the manufacturing process by significantly decreasing the length of end turns, resulting in a more compact overall motor design.
Boasting a reduction of over 5mm in end size compared to conventional HVH winding techniques, the S-HVH technology not only minimizes axial volume but also boosts power density while decreasing copper usage, leading to improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Future Outlook
The S-HVH technology offers remarkable compatibility with existing production lines, facilitating seamless upgrades.
Its versatility equips it to accommodate a wide array of new energy vehicle models, supporting both 400V and 800V platforms.
This positions BorgWarner as a leader in the shift toward sustainable transportation.
With such advancements on the horizon, BorgWarner is thrilled to be at the front of this transformative journey in the automotive industry.
